When I and my friends decided to go to a restaurant for lunch, there were four restaurants: Mile Stone, Moxies, Earls and Cactus Club. These are all popular places which started from Vancouver. In my case, I’ve already been three cafes except Cactus Club. I was interested in the new place. Finally, We headed for Cactus Club.




The Atmosphere

On Robson, the purple neon sign got attention from pedestrian. When I got into the cafe, the overall mood was unique. First impression was simple because the restaurant’s wall, tables, chairs, even severs' dresses were black. When I looked around the wall, the atmosphere changed from simple to classical. On the wall, there are some framed famous antique pictures. Some quirky words such as ‘Son Of Spam’ were decorated on the wall, too.

We went to the restaurant around 1pm. However, it wasn’t really busy. We don’t feel hurry.


The Food

The menu was well-organized and easy to understand what are included in the food.

First, we shared potato skins as a appetizer. When I saw potato skins on the menu, it was out of my mind. However, I heard explanation about the food and everybody recommended the dish They said that was awesome. Then, I thought it might be good. Later, potato skins were served with spicy yogurt. Fortunately, the dish wasn’t just potato’s thin skins. It looked great. On the potato, there are some crispy bacons, rich cheese and fresh chive. When I tasted a piece of the potato skin, It was astonishing. I could feel bacon’s flavor, luscious cheese and well-cooked potato. Also, the sauce was perfect with potatoes. It was tasteful. If I didn’t order main menu, I must order this dish one more.





My friends ordered jambalaya rice bowl. The jambalaya rice bowl looked Asian food. There are boiled vegetables, shrimps, chicken and bacon. The various taste was in one bowl. The sauce looked spicy but it wasn’t strong. Also, my friend said the savor wasn’t enough.



After amazing appetizer, my main menu, J.D bbq burger with seasoning green was served. There are many kinds of fresh vegetables in the small salad. The cheese was not heavy so, it was dulcet with vegetables. The buger size was huge. There are appetizing patty, fresh vegetable and pickles between buns. In particular, the color of Jack Daniels' sauce was perfect. The patty was well-cooked. The J.D bbq burger wasn’t just burger. It was flavorful cuisine.


The Service

Our server was very kind. We didn’t have to wait long time. When we tried to ask order or bill, the server came to us soon.

When we finished our meal, the restaurant was getting busy. However, she carefully paid attention to us.

I really appreciate this restaurant. It was the best cafe among the 4 restaurants which started from Vancouver. There are lots of yummy and lush dishes. I strongly recommend Cactus Club. Enjoy!
